                     United Methodist Discipleship Ministries BLACK HISTORY MONTH QUIZ

Too often, the accomplishments of African Americans have not received adequate notice in
U.S. history books and classrooms. That is why historian Carter Woodson first proposed a
weeklong focus on black history in 1926. The first U.S. celebration of Black History Month

What can I do? 
1.  Stay away from using Styrofoam whenever possible.
2.  Give up plastic straws.
3.  Buy wooden hairbrushes and non-plastic toothbrushes.
4.  Use glass jars for food storage rather than plastic.
5.  Reduce your purchase of plastic products. 
6.  Recycle your plastic containers, soda cans, cardboard items, paper, etc.
7.  Choose re-usable drinking containers.
8.  Use re-usable grocery bags; or ask for paper sacks rather than plastic bags for your groceries.
9.  Don't litter!  Take pride in your surroundings and keep them clean (your house, your yard, your block, your road).
